OBJECTIVE OF ROTARY

Greensburg Rotary's main objective is service -- in the community, in education, in the workplace, and around the globe. The fifty Greensburg Rotarians and the 1.2 million Rotarians who make up the 34,000 Rotary clubs across the world share a dedication to the ideal of "Service Above Self".

Greensburg Rotary is open to people of all cultures and ethnicities. We are not affiliated with any political or religious organizations. Greensburg Rotarians share only one thing in common: a dedication to the ideal of "Service Above Self".

GREENSBURG ROTARY ANNUAL FUNDRAISERS:

  • September — Cow Days Fall Festival

  • November — Christmas Auction

EXAMPLES OF OTHER CHARITY EFFORTS:

  • Annually sponsor funds for the Green County implementation of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.

  • Local member donations and Rotary International grants fund scholarships for graduating GCHS seniors each year.

  • Rotary Interact High School members have donated their time to Angel Tree gift wrapping, staffing Cow Days booths, and our Christmas Radio Auction phone lines.

  • Greensburg Rotary helped build the Depot Park in conjunction with the city of Greensburg and the Industrial Foundation

YOUTH PROGRAMS

Greensburg Rotary believes in developing the next generation of community leaders. Our programs help younger leaders build leadership skills, expand education and learn the value of service.

INTERACT CLUB:

The Greensburg Rotary Interact club brings together young people ages 12-18 to develop leadership skills and learn about the world through service projects and activities.

  • Our local Greensburg Interact Club has over 30 students in the Green County School System.

  • In 2019, we were able to sponsor 11 student Interact members to attend the 2-day RYLA Camp, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, in Bowling Green.

  • Our Green County RYLA attendees reported back to us afterwards that it was way more valuable and rewarding than anticipated.

HOW CAN YOU SERVE?

One thing you learn, especially in a small town Rotary Club atmosphere like ours, is how wide and diverse our skills and interests are. Some can cook, some can fix things, some can organize and lead others, some can lend their pickup and flatbed, some are quiet, some are excellent presenters, some work at companies that end up helping the club, some are older and wiser, and some -- thank goodness -- are younger and smarter.

You might not yet know what your strengths are that will help grow our club and serve our community. What we're offering is the opportunity for you to sharpen those skills in service that improves our community.
